Celebrating New Beginnings

I grew up hearing that “April showers bring May flowers”. Up here in the Northland I wonder what this year’s April snowstorms bring? Perhaps they tell us in this topsy turvy world we live in, hang on because … God’s got this!

We have already had some wonderful events in April from the celebration of Easter and theAsbury Singers to the meatball dinner andrelocated meetings. Through it all, God’s presence is here with us. Recently a visitor was here for a group meeting and asked if I had ever noticed how peaceful it is up in the Sanctuary? Yes, I have noticed. And I was glad they had the opportunity to notice as well. Asbury is a special place for God’s presence and a wonderful place for people to reach out into the community with God’s love.

The joy of God’s presence continues in May with a Bible Study on the Beatitudes, singing opportunities, a diaper drive sponsored by the UWF, and our Garden Team will be actively beautifying Asbury’s gardens.

At the end of the month, May 28, we celebrate Pentecost and the presence of God’s Spirit among us, igniting our faith and sending us out into the world (it’s a great time to wear red!).

And as we look for the signs of spring and flowers reminding us of new life and new beginnings, we know that God’s work in us is not done either. We might not know what the future holds (weather not withstanding) yet God still chooses to work in us and through us. So join us this month to celebrate new beginnings, traveling together, and the beauty of a community of love.

Blessings and Peace,

Katherine
